Real-World Reference

Among the achievements Carl opened back at Mordecai's guild room was one titled Johnny Quest, awarded for completing an assigned quest without dying. The book spelled the name Johnny, differing from the real cartoon's own Jonny Quest; recorded as the book states it, not corrected.

Book 2, Chapter 13

Stacked on top of the Johnny Quest achievement was one titled Hadji, given for finishing a quest in an unusual enough way, its flavor text comparing the achievement's recipients to Kolkata's exploited street children, an allusion to the cartoon sidekick Hadji's own backstory as an orphan taken in off those same streets. Donut received the same Hadji upgrade, which bumped her own reward from a gold Quest Box to a platinum one, matching Carl's.

Book 2, Chapter 13

Watching a news recap of the event quest's aftermath, Carl and Donut saw the crawler Quan Ch open a Bandit achievement upgrade whose flavor text dismissed the earlier Hadji achievement and then noted that, unlike the real Bandit who actually helped Jonny Quest complete his missions, Quan Ch had done nothing to earn the reward he was getting anyway.
