THE CRAWLER'S COMPANIONpatch notes for the apocalypse

Vesta Stoudt

First seen: Book 4, Chapter 11

The real Illinois ordnance plant worker credited with inventing duct tape during World War II after writing to President Roosevelt about a design flaw in ammunition box seals. Named as the second, less-famous half of the joke on Carl's Enchanted Roll of Never-ending Duct Tape.

Real-World Reference

Following its Ted Bundy setup, the flavor text on Carl's duct tape prize named Vesta Stoudt directly as the real, mostly unknown reason he'd received the item, without spelling out her actual WWII-era duct tape connection on the page.
