The dark, open space between the floor's popped and unpopped bubbles, entered for the first time when Carl and Donut fly the drop bear past Bubble #543's own wall chasing Orthrus. Shaped more like a sunken egg carton than a flat sheet, with each bubble seated in its own hollow and a floor Carl never actually sees, buried a few hundred feet below his own quadrant's waterline.
