Changeling

First seen: Book 4, Chapter 1

A shapeshifting race, per Mordecai's own explainer to Carl: an adult changeling shifts into a generic version of a race it has physically touched, then customizes the look from there, and unlike a doppelganger it actually gains some of that race's abilities. A crawler who takes up the race can only shift once every ten minutes; changelings themselves shift on demand, a skill Mordecai rates Juice Box's own version of at roughly level 15. Heavier or stronger forms come with a lower chance of reaching full power, though the exact limits are looser than a doppelganger's own mass restrictions.
