Battery Fabricator

First seen: Book 3, Chapter 4

A dwarven machine on display at Limp Richard's Sundries, about the size of a microwave, priced at 75,000 gold with no room to haggle. Its own tooltip admits it isn't fully understood: taken from a dwarven automaton factory, it turns a handful of mana potions and one of its included metal blocks into a charged battery. Comes packaged with 50 of the metal blocks. Carl wants it on sight but can't justify the price.

Connections

Carl:

Owns it now, and credits its included stock of fifty metal blocks with letting him charge up a working stash of dwarven batteries, twelve usable ones by his own count as of this chapter, each one taking four full mana potions and five minutes to chargeB3C26

Examines its properties and one of the loose battery blocks up close; wants it the moment he sees it but decides the price is too steep to justify buying something just because it seems coolB3C4

Limp Richard:

Sells it at his general store; tells Carl he'd have to ask a dwarf how much charge the batteries actually hold, but says the automatons that use them can run a long time between changes, and calls dwarven batteries safer than the elves' soul gems, which run on actual souls and are apparently unstableB3C4
