Gangway Chock

First seen: Book 3, Chapter 5

Carl's own name for a train car fortification he fabricated at the engineering workbench: a giant, rectangular slab of metal with rounded edges, wedged into a gangway to seal it off. Made from a swordsman guard's breastplate thinned to about a fifth of an inch, which let him size it up big while keeping it something he could still pull in and out of his inventory. Heavy enough that it would shatter an ordinary foot, and too wide for anything but a tiny monster to slip past.
