Mysterious Winding Box

also known as The Winding Box

First seen: Book 4, Chapter 21

The third piece of the Gate of the Feral Gods, stolen from Ghazi's own bag after Carl punches him out. A heavy, old wooden case with a glass window, two knobs, and two round cutouts sized for the two matching pocket watches; its own tooltip only says to place both watches inside and activate it to find out what happens. Carl doesn't test it, already knowing from a scholars' council's own letter to Ghazi, found in the same bag, that it can banish a place into the Nothing.
