Abyss Station
also known as Station #436, The Abyss
The Nightmare Express's fifth and final stop, already flagged as not an ordinary transfer station. A bare platform with no bench or sign beyond its own nameplate, holding a single steep industrial staircase that climbs, over the better part of an hour, up through a hatch into a separate zone the game itself labels the Abyss: a circular iron catwalk ringing the inside of a mile-wide, thousands-of-feet-deep burning pit, its walls lined with hundreds of glowing one-way portals. Carl is the first of the party to reach either level.

Appearance
- Platform:
- The Abyss:
- Black Hole Effect:
Bare, no bench, no sign beyond the nameplate reading Abyss Station - 436, only a single steep set of industrial stairs, like a fire escape, climbing through a dark hatch in the ceiling. The whole climb shakes with the sound of unseen trains passing above, below, and to every sideB3C15
A separate zone reached about an hour up the platform's stairs: a circular iron catwalk running around the inside of an almost perfectly round pit, at least a mile across and thousands of feet deep, blasting hot air upward. Hundreds of glowing portals dot its walls at every height, with more catwalks and monstrous shapes scattered across the interiorB3C15
Per Bautista's own report, some kind of black-hole-like pull grows stronger the closer anyone gets to the pit's center, strong enough to drag flying crawlers straight in if they stray too close while fighting Wall Monitors on the walkwaysB3C27
Where
The section overlooking Bautista's stranded Mindaro-line group has its own giant portal leading to trainyard H; Carl walks the whole rescued crowd through it directly rather than risk the smaller cart portal into the mimic waiting at yard EB3C28
The end of the Nightmare Express's own line, floor 4's Iron TangleB3C15
Connections

Chapter 25
- TAG Interior Gangways Collapsing: The camouflaged interior walkways crawlers need to reach stop 436 and the named-train switching stations are giving out under repeated fights with constantly-regenerating lizard monsters, ruling out Carl's plan of returning here via the hijacked Nightmare Express
- TAG Stranded Crowd: Roughly 500-600 crawlers trapped at the pit's edge and growing, with word spreading that a souvenir hat is required to use its portals; those without one are mostly instead risking the trip back to the trainyards on foot, a route Elle has nicknamed the "ghoul coaster"
