Necropolis of Anser

First seen: Book 4, Chapter 1

A vast underground tomb on floor 5, sealed off as its own subterranean quadrant behind a forcefield the party can't yet pass. Hump Town and its rival Dromedarian and Bactrian settlements sit on the bowl-shaped ground directly above it. Carved brick hallways and a relief of a screaming, flaming pterodactyl are visible just past the forcefield; trap-rigged, per a banger sphere Carl rolls in to test it.

  • TAG Casualties: Mike Barnes 3 killed by a flesh-weasel trap in the flooded tunnels; the rest of his team stays paralyzed in their saferoom waiting for the necropolis to drain
Chapter 22
  • TAG Partially Drained: Tran partially opens the necropolis's own drainage valve to save Carl and Donut from the collapsed sandcastle, blasting its water straight out through the main drainage tunnel and into the Water Quadrant's ocean, sweeping the pair along with it
Chapter 23
  • TAG Stairwell Buried: The Land Quadrant's own stairwell chamber, sitting directly under the drain's spray, is buried by the flood; Gwen's team turns the drain off and starts digging it back out, planning to roof it over once clear
Chapter 29
  • TAG Guardian Destroyed: Quetzalcoatlus is killed once the lightning tower's storm strike electrifies the flooded interior, liberating the Subterranean Quadrant and, with it, all four of Bubble #543's quadrants
  • TAG Bowl Collapsing: Earthquakes and the storm tear the bowl-shaped ground above apart; half the bowl breaks away entirely, taking the Bactrian village with it, and a falling statue crushes a pazuzu hut in Pandinus
Chapter 33
  • TAG Anser's Tomb Found: Gwendolyn Duet and Tran's team finally reach Anser's own tomb in the now-dry subterranean level: just a sarcophagus holding the skeleton of a goose wearing a golden, unenchanted crown. Electrifying the water earlier had triggered every trap in the area
