Station #83

also known as Transfer Station #83

First seen: Book 3, Chapter 2

A Red Line transfer station on floor 4, the Iron Tangle: a narrow, white-tiled subway platform below, and a small circular room above reached by a short flight of stairs. The upper room holds two further stairwells down to a yellow line and something called the Nightmare Express, plus three shops: a safe room, a mace and bashing weapons guild, and Limp Richard's Sundries. The first stop where Carl's party gets off the train and finds no other crawlers already arrived.

Station

Appearance

Platform:

An underground platform that stretches out of sight in one direction, walled in plain white tile and holding little beyond a single bench and a painted line marking the drop to track level. That track is a five-foot channel carrying two ordinary rails and one exposed third rail, without a safety cover; the ceramic insulators running alongside it point to conventional DC power rather than anything magicalB3C2

Upper Room:

A small circular room at the top of a short flight of stairs above the platform, with two further stairwells down to a yellow line and something called the Nightmare Express. Three shops open onto it: a safe room, a "Mace and bashing weapons guild," and Limp Richard's Sundries, a general storeB3C2

Connections

Carl:

Gets off the train here with Donut, Katia Grim, and Mongo; his Escape Plan skill fills in the transfer station's Red Line sign into a full schematic once he examines itB3C2

Limp Richard:

Runs Limp Richard's Sundries here, the first crawlers he's seen come throughB3C2

Brynhild's Daughters:

Also arrived at this station number, per Katia Grim, but at a separate Orange and Indigo line junction rather than the party's own Red Line sideB3C3
