Growler Gary
The level-25 Shade Gnoll bartender of the Downward Dog at station 75, found drunk and barely conscious when the party returns. Blocked from joining the fight when station 75 fell, he insists he isn't the coward the dying transit driver Jumping Jen-Jen called him. Turns out to be one of the game's rare indestructible NPCs, regenerating within minutes of death, which the party ultimately exploits to get one of the station's dormant repair carts running.

[ NOT YET ENCOUNTERED ]
You haven't met this one yet, crawler. Records unseal as you read. The dungeon appreciates your impatience but does not reward it.
Physical
Built more like a hyena than a jackal, per Carl's own earlier note on Shade Gnolls; found clutching an empty bottle like a baby, later wiping his bloodied hands on his fur and cracking his neck before bracing for another deathB3C26
Location
Tending the bar at the Downward Dog, station 75; can't physically pass through its own front door, stopped by what feels to him like an invisible wallB3C26
System message
No data on this one yet. It either hasn't mattered, or it is about to.
System message
Stats unknown. Rest assured the dungeon has precise figures on exactly how underwhelming they are.
System message
No spells or skills on record. Punching things very hard is not a skill until the dungeon says it is.

- LOCATION Location: Tending the bar at the Downward Dog, station 75; can't physically pass through its own front door, stopped by what feels to him like an invisible wall
- PHYSICAL Appearance: Built more like a hyena than a jackal, per Carl's own earlier note on Shade Gnolls; found clutching an empty bottle like a baby, later wiping his bloodied hands on his fur and cracking his neck before bracing for another death

Harvested for at least one more pair of hands, off the page, once the two hands kept in reserve turn out not to be enough to key a second defensive cart against the stage-three monsters closing in on station 75B3C27
Tells him he believes he isn't a coward and asks for his help; later returns again and again to harvest his regenerating left hand as a cart key, collecting fourteen usable hands over the chapter. Explains the whole plan honestly once Gary starts fighting back, and promises him alcohol once it's doneB3C26
Dismisses his ranting as him having gone crazy; directs Mongo through the killing each time, telling him to go for the face first and not to eat the handsB3C26
A transit driver he kept marrow juice cold for; insists to Carl and the others that he isn't the coward she called him while dying just outside the bar's door, blocked from helping her by what felt like an invisible wallB3C26
Tells him not to call himself useless when he says so out loud; stays back in the party's personal space rather than take part in killing him, and separately spends the chapter trying and failing to shapeshift into a convincing enough gnoll to trigger his cart's key consoles herself insteadB3C26
Kills him repeatedly over the course of the chapter on Donut's direction, taking his head first each time and then his hands, harvesting fourteen usable left hands off his regenerating body; Gary asks him directly, at the end, to make the last one not hurtB3C26
