THE CRAWLER'S COMPANIONpatch notes for the apocalypse

Loita

First seen: Book 3, Chapter 25

Meets the party in person for the first time, confirming her takeover as their sole representative in Zev's place. Resembles Zev but a little taller and thinner, wearing only a simple rebreather instead of a full diving suit and standing in her own puddle of brackish water, with a small blinking pin shaped like the Bloom's dahlia symbol on her chest. Tells Carl and Donut she has a job to do and means to do it right this time, brushing off Carl's open hostility without flinching.

History by chapter
Book 3
Chapter 25
  • TAG NPC: A kua-tin outreach associate for Bloom, Hekla's former representative, described secondhand by Zev; not seen in person
Chapter 34
  • TAG Admin: Breaks into party chat at the station 36 stairwell in Zev's place, speaking for Borant directly for the first time rather than being described secondhand
Chapter 35
  • LOCATION Location: The production trailer used for Odette's own show, meeting the party in person for the first time ahead of their interview
  • PHYSICAL Appearance: Resembles Zev but a little taller and thinner, standing in a puddle of brackish water. Wears only a simple rebreather-like device around her fish neck instead of a full diving suit
  • PHYSICAL Bloom Pin: A shiny, blinking pin on her chest shaped like a dahlia, the Bloom's own symbol; Carl commits it to memory to sketch later
Book 4
Chapter 18
  • TAG Deceased: Killed when robot Donut explodes in the green room. Carl tells her, dying, and Borant afterward that the cause is unknown to him, but his own narration beforehand ('I just needed Loita to get up off that damn couch') and a later authorial note claiming 'the first step' of a plan 'for a little girl named Bonnie' both say otherwise
  • TAG Ideology: Openly calls humans and Donut's culture a cancer on the Bloom, resents celebrating rather than exterminating it, and claims Borant will close its system's borders once every human in the crawl is dead
